Are you a Slacker or a Go-getter?
Welcome to the first assessment test that will help you determine whether you are a bonafide slacker or a super-human go-getter. Before we begin, let’s establish how the dictionary defines the word slacker.
Merriam-Webster dictionary’s definition of a slacker:
Definition of slacker
1: a person who shirks work or obligation especially : one who evades military service in time of war
2: a person and especially a young person who is perceived to be disaffected, apathetic, cynical, or lacking ambition
Merriam-Webster dictionary’s definition of a go-getter:
Definition of go-getter
: an aggressively enterprising person
Now that we’ve gotten the textbook definition the word out of the way let’s determine where you fall in line in the spectrum.
Follow these series of questions and keep a mental note of how many times answer yes or no:
- Do you find it difficult to schedule the time to work on a new project?
- Do you immediately dread the prospect of working on a new project?
- Do you find it difficult to make a new project your number one priority in your daily routine?
- Do you look for excuses to skip any pre-scheduled plans to work on a new project?
- Do you look for shortcuts to get a new project finished?
If you answered no to any of the questions above, then you are above the curve and unquestionably a super-human go-getter. If you answered yes to any of the questions above, congratulations, you are a bonafide slacker.
Unfortunately, you don’t get any brownie points or slack, pun intended, for answering no to any of the questions above. For a frank assessment, you need to pass the 100% or bust rule. This rule means that you must either answer 100% of the questions the same answer or bust.
Wait, here’s the good news
The silver lining in all of this is that we are all born slackers and rely on our instincts to take us through the path of least resistance. That includes finding the smoothest track and a bit of hand-holding when necessary.
Achilles’ Pen will pave the path for you to get from A to B without the growing pains of getting over the learning curve. Adopt the ideology of working smart and efficiently to complete the task before you. Learn the shortcuts to complete simple tasks such as; how to boil an egg, how to tie a tie, to more technical challenges like, how to save on cable bills or learn to play your favorite song on the guitar in less than a day.
